My deepest darkest fantasy is that I collapse on the street and I am rushed to the hospital. They perform a bunch of tests and find out I am severely deficient in some kind of vitamin. Then I start taking the vitamin and I become the happiest cleverest person alive because all my problems were caused by this one deficiency
literally nothing funnier than a newly born aquatic mammal realizing they've been cursed to live in water
I love this post so much I have done everything in my power to make sure I will never forget it via reblogging it every October 5th, in memory of discovering it for the first time
biden's second most relatable quality after having a fuck-up loser son with cocaine for blood is that he's a really shitty dog owner, if he wants to win re-election he should bring all his German Sheperds who keep biting people up on stage at a debate and say they're usually really friendly and apologize repeatedly while they're all freaking out on his split lead leash pissing everywhere and lunging at the moderators
this is why i can’t fucking introduce kingdom hearts to my friends
Out of Context Kingdom Hearts dialogue is a UN banned chemical weapon
Before COVID shut the library down, I was helping a little boy and his mom find books.
“What do you like to read about?” I asked.
“Dinosaurs!”
This is common request, but can mean different things, “Okay. Do you want a story about dinosaurs, or facts about dinosaurs?”
“Facts.”
I took him to the dinosaur section (567.9) of the juvenile nonfiction. He picked out a couple books, and I asked him if there was anything else he was looking for.
“Do you have anything on DNA?”
I had to think about that for a second. “I think so…but I’ll have to look it up.”
The boy beamed, “I want to find out how DNA works, so I can bring them back!”
“We just saw Jurassic Park,” his mom explained with a smile that did not waver when she added, “We didn’t learn anything.”

I still think that a key function of the way we think of the concepts "adult" and "child" is to separate the human population into "people who deserve autonomy but no protection" and "people who deserve protection but no autonomy" and in the process dehumanize both groups of people. We ignore the fact that all people need both autonomy and protection, and that our society could easily be set up to provide everyone a healthy mix of both.
And to be honest much of what we label as "protection" for children and "autonomy" for adults is merely the appearance of such. We act as if dictating what children are allowed to say, think, or feel is a form of care, and as if cutting away all social safety nets for adults is a form of empowerment.
Very cool life update: I am hopefully getting a tattoo of my favorite cave painting ever by someone who is equally obsessed with lost species of humans, I made bread for a friend who biked to get it from me, I have begun packing my belongings, and I think for a moment it is okay.
another heavy handed symbolism moment: my mom has a potted sunflower in the kitchen. because it is a sunflower, it keeps turning towards the light from the window. my mother keeps rotating it so it faces inward because she wants "to see its beautiful petals and have it really brighten up the space!" . the sunflower is visibly wilting .
